About the meals, the advantage of Embudu is to offer full board. But you must know that you have to remain seated at the same table and are not allowed to move around throughout your stay. This is for each waiter (who manages his own area of tables) to get a good tip on the last day.

There are three categories of bungalows. The basic ones do not have hot water and are open onto the outside, and a large part of them is quite well located, facing small sandy creeks. The next category is the one we chose, that is bungalows with hot water and air conditioning. The most expensive are the water bungalows which, according to what we heard, were criticized because of the noise of the waves flapping against them (they are situated on the windy side of the island) so that it is impossible to sleep when you are there.

There are several possibilities for day trips : visit of the capital Malé (one afternoon) but which apparently is not worth it because there is nothing to see there except the fish market. It is better to go “Island Hopping” (visit of three islands, one where people live, another one for tourists, and a desert island for snorkelling). That creates a change of scenery for one day and we enjoyed it. According to what we were told, the night fishing is not worth while because you can’t see anything and therefore don’t catch anything! But what you definitely have to do at the very beginning of your stay is go to the diving centre to register for the manta ray outing in the late afternoon. The catamaran of the island can also take you out there alone (with its pilot). The manta rays sightseeing is something you just can’t miss!

For the snorkelling, you have to bring at least a T-shirt or some other garment that you can wear underwater to protect yourself from the sun. And swimming trunks for women (my wife got her backside burnt during our first stay)
The disposable cameras can take very nice pictures (choose Fuji for the colours). We used them during our first stay, and the quality of the pictures is very good, but the only problem is that there is no zoom. To take good pictures with them, you must get very close to the fish (which is possible, particularly in the coral garden)

About the different activities, apart from snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing, it’s all very quiet (apart from a few shows at night).
